Welcome to Crime Writers Consultations!
Do you need help with your police scene? Looking for authenticity regarding process, procedures, language and function? Whether you are published or not, at the beginning, middle or end of your project, Crime Writers Consultations is your one stop shopping for getting the real deal on police work, especially murder investigations.
Crime Writers Consultations was formed by retired Sergeant Derek Pacifico of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. He has been training police officers, military police and federal agents from coast to coast since 1995, but when he got invited to speak at a Los Angeles based writers group, the rest as they say, is history. From a small venue in Pasadena, Pacifico garnered the attention of local writers who continued inviting him to speak at larger venues and state conferences. When some novelists and screenwriters refused to let him leave an event before promising to put on a full two-day seminar, Crime Writers Consultations was born.
But it isn't just the seminars, its the personal and private consultations too. There is no seminar that can ever cover every question, technique or situation. Right from the start, Pacifico started receiving requests for private consultations and script reads. Some just need a little police procedural fix, while others need a whole character tear-down and rebuild. It wasn't long after that he was invited by a former seminar student to visit a movie shoot where police procedural sequences were being filmed. On-set and on location technical advice is but one more aspect of CWC.
